Managing Director

Willie is the Managing Director and lead trainer with MaxSafe. He has managed to cram in a lot of experience in his short life (says he is 26) Willie has been involved in the delivery of training since 1998 when employed in the Fire Service, he then went on to the local college as a lecturer before founding MaxSafe. Recently has just completed a year and a half on the largest construction site in the world, NEOM in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Having gained his NEBOSH General Certificate he went on to UWS and achieved the BSc in Occ Health & Safety gaining a distinction. He is also a Graduate member of IOSH and holds Graduate of Institute of Fire Engineers membership.

In his spare time you can find him locked in the garage tinkering with cars or messing about with gadgets.

Fire Technician

Liam is our Fire Technician. Having sat the BAFE exam and passed with flying colours. Liam can be seen weighing, testing and repairing our customers fire extinguishers on site.

A St Mirren Football fan and general football fanatic you can see him at St Mirren Park with all the other Buddies regularly on a Saturday afternoon.

Karen

Karen

Operations Director

Karen is the Operations Director and the biggest wheel at MaxSafe. All the courses are generally set up and administered through Karen. As well as having a BA in HR Management she has got a credit on her NEBOSH course. As part of the role she creates most of our clients policies and procedures and has a wealth of experience in the manufacturing industry.

In her spare time Karen likes to cook and walk the dogs, but never at the same time, that would just not be safe.

John (Jake)

Safety Trainer

With the majority of his working life spent in the Fire & Rescue service Jake retired as a Station Manager and trainer. Qualified as a rope rescue instructor, breathing apparatus instructor as well as many other fire related disciplines Jake joined MaxSafe in 2016. Having his NEBOSH General Certificate and a Technical member of IOSH, Jake can talk safety. And boy can Jake talk…

Being a fully qualified “Skipper” he can be found sailing large yachts, or cruising Scotland in his motorcycle on his days off. Doesn’t like spinach though.

Derek

Derek

Associate Trainer

Derek has just recently came on board as an associate trainer in the Healthcare side of MaxSafe. With a wealth of experience working in care and has been mentored by our very own master tech in care, Lynn, before she retired. A really approachable trainer that has adapted very well to the MaxSafe way of training delivery.

He can be seen “Scooting” about on his Vespa at various Mod meets around the area. We can only apologise for his choice of music.

Niamh

Niamh

Training Co-ordinator

Niamh started with MaxSafe part time in 2021 as our training Co-ordinator.

As well as working at MaxSafe, Niamh is currently studying towards a Masters In Physiotherapy at Queen Margaret University in Edinburgh.  Look out for her as one of our future trainers!

Niamh is animal crazy and her ambition is to go on and do another Masters in animal physiotherapy and open up her own practice one day
